Bearsden stamp group meets

THE first meeting of the new season of the Bearsden & District Philatelic Society took place in the Fraser Centre, Milngavie on Wednesday September 12.

The new president Bill McKinlay gave a colourful and interesting display of the Royal Mail millennium stamps issued in 1999 and 2000.

This is Bill’s fourth term as president. He has been a member for almost 50 years serving in a variety of posts and is popular as a guest speaker at other Philatelic Societies. He has also won the Thematic Rosebowl at the annual Scottish Congress on numerous occasions.

The current president of the association of Scottish Philatelic Societies, Mike Turnbull, will be the guest at the next meeting on Wednesday September 26. It starts at 7.30pm.

The Society meets every second Wednesday at the Fraser Centre, Milngavie and new members are very welcome.
