Twenty-five jobs will be created when a new pizza restaurant and take-away opens in Bearsden early next year.

Award winning Italian eatery La Favorita Delivered is expanding its Glasgow operation to open their fifth premises on Drymen Road in the former Match Box ladies clothing and accessories shop.

Match Box was a major fixture in Bearsden’s business community - with 29 years of trading in the town.

Jobs being created at the Bearsden pizzeria, which is due to open early 2016, include chefs, drivers and managers.

The company started out in Edinburgh, where they now have three pizzerias and a bakery, and has steadily grown its client base and also offers a delivery service.

They opened their Gibson Street venue in the West End of Glasgow just a few months ago, and they now have planning permission to transform the unit in Bearsden to install one of the business’s specially designed pizza ovens.

Kenny Scott, chief executive, said: “The ovens have been specially developed to combine the traditional log burning method with a temperature control which results in a perfectly cooked, authentic stonebaked pizza evry time you order.

“We are aiming to expand outwith Scotland and open 50 restaurants all over the UK.”

La Favorita has won awards for their authentic Italian food including Best Pizza at last year’s Scottish Italian Award.
