Bearsden’s David Moyes lands Fergie’s job at Manchester United

Bearsden born and bred David Moyes has been appointed to one of the top jobs in world football.

The 50 year old has been named the successor to Sir Alex Ferguson as boss of Manchester United.

Moyes is a former pupil of Bearsden Academy and starred for Celtic during his time as a player.

He had a successful managerial stint at Preston North End before taking over at Everton in 2002, where he has built up a formidable reputation.

A poster on the Friends Reunited site remembered his time as a boy in Bearsden.

He said: “He was a very good friend of my brother. We all used to walk home together around Kilmardinny Loch. Well done Moysee!”
