Bearsden Literary Society tunes in for music hall talk

The next meeting of Bearsden Literary Society on Monday, January 11, is going to be held in St Andrew’s Church Lower Hall, Bearsden Cross.

It will feature Bob Bain of the Scottish Music Hall Society.

The society grew from The Sir Harry Lauder Society, which was founded in Sir Harry’s birthplace, Portobello, in 1979.

In 1979, a group of Sir Harry Lauder fans sat down and discussed the founding of a society.

Bob has a wonderful collection of Music Hall memorabilia and will take everyone on a nostalgic tour of a once popular form of mass entertainment.

Spokesperson for Bearsden Literary Society, Roberta Young, said: “We look forward to a fascinating evening and welcome visitors, as well as members, to join us at this meeting which promises to be both informative and very interesting.”

The meeting will be held at 7.45pm. Visitors £4, students £1.
