SONGBIRD Amy Macdonald managed to keep her potty mouth in check recently when she co-hosted her first ever live radio show.

Standing in for Cat Harvey on Real Radio’s Breakfast show, Amy (25) joined regular presenter Ewan Cameron, and admitted that she normally “swears like a trooper” but resisted the urge to curse on air.

Having dragged herself out of bed at 3.30am, she arrived, guitar in hand, at the Glasgow studio to perform a live acoustic version of Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark.

Amy, who owns a luxury home in Milngavie, said: “In my everyday life I swear a lot but I think it’s quite a talent of mine that when I’m on live TV and radio, I’m able to control it.”

Amy was living out a childhood dream by taking to the airwaves and hand-picking tracks to play.

She said: “I put on a Killers song - their new single, Runaways - but I was happy to just go with the flow and get on with things in the background.

“Two of my songs - ‘Pride’ and ‘Slow It Down’ and a tiny bit of This Is the Life - were played but Ewan picked them, not me.

“Doing radio was something totally different for me, I’m used to doing gigs.”

Amy Macdonald sang her new single ‘Pride’ last Saturday at Hampden Park ahead of Scotland’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Serbia. She was inspired to write the song after performing Flower of Scotland at the stadium ahead of the team’s game against Spain in 2010.
