The pantomime season will be here in Fintry by the end of this month when the curtain rises on the FADS production of Aladdin.
Rehearsals are well underway, and the cast are full of good cheer.
This modern version of the traditional tale, written by Alan McHugh, has all the favourite characters introduced in rhyme by two witty Glaswegian narrators.
Widow Twanky is closing down her failing laundry to open up a Chinese Take away. Helping her are her sons Aladdin and Wishy Washee.
The poverty stricken Emperor and Empress of China attend the opening.
They announce that anyone saving the country from bankruptcy will receive their daughter Pekinesias’s hand in marriage.
Wicked Abanazer tricks Aladdin to accompany him to India to find the magic lamp.
There’s double dealing and double crossing, magic and mayhem with a wonderful Genie who escapes from the magic lamp.
Not forgetting a carpet ride an encounter with Humphrey a stubborn camel in the desert all add to the fun leading to a happy ending.
It takes place in the Menzies Hall on Thursday, November 28 and Friday 29th at 7.30pm, Saturday 30th at 2pm and 7.30pm, Thursday, December 5 and Friday 6th at 7.30pm and Saturday 7th at 2pm and 7.30pm.
