Ahoy, shipmates! People with Merchant Navy contacts sought

Are you a jolly Jack Tarr, or are you descended from one? If so, the Royal Mail is urging you to get in touch.

The service is looking for peple, their family and descendant who worked for the Merchant Navy over the past 200 years.

The search is part of plans to release a new series of limited edition Merchant Navy stamps, which will go on sale in September.

The Royal Mail is wanting to hear any stories relating to the Merchant fleet, with stories from World War 2 and sailing with Arctic and Atlantic convoys in particular.

Some 35,000 British merchant navy sailors were killed during WW2 alone with thousands of vessels lost.

Those wishing to share their stories are requested to email merchantnavy@goldengoosepr.com, or call Miki on 07900 690 574.

Descendants preferring to write in can do so to: Merchant Navy Campaign, Office 101, 145-147 Boston Road, Ealing, London, W7 3SA. Please include contact details and the names of the ships that individuals or descendants served upon.
