Steps were being taken to set up a Meals on Wheels service in Milngavie.

Members of the Women’s Voluntary Service had approached the town council to make arrangements for the new service.

Thelma MacDonald, who was organising the scheme, said that a clear demand had been identified for the service.

Members of Milngavie Old People’s Welfare Committee had also been consulted to find out what they felt was the best way forward.

Before the system could be implemented it was felt more volunteers needed to be recruited to provide a regular and efficient rota for the delivery of meals.

Milngavie’s old folk who were housebound were also to be consulted for their views.
