A married couple got a pleasant surprise when their wedding in Italy attracted attention from the local press and they published photos of their special day.

Katherine Lynsey White (31) married Peter James Rowe (29) in a sacred chapel in a village called Treggiaia in Tuscany on Friday, August 30.

They didn’t know they’d appear in an edition of ‘Il Tirreno’ so when a staff member at their hotel showed them they were thrilled. A video of them and the piper was also on the paper’s website.

Now a medical doctor, Katherine grew up in Kessington, Bearsden, and attended Boclair Academy. She fell in love with Tuscany after a holiday there in 2007 with her mum and brother and later decided that it would be perfect for a wedding. After graduating she moved to Manchester to do clinical studies and met Peter, a chartered surveyor, on a night out in the city centre. Some of her family, her mum’s maiden name is DeMarco, come from Italy and they believe their love of the country is in their blood.

Katherine said: “Tuscany is so beautiful. Peter and his parents loved it as well. We looked at venues in Loch Lomond but couldn’t find anything quite right with a loch view as so many guests were coming. Treggiaia was perfect. It was a wonderful day, heaven really, and we were thrilled that friends came from all over the world - even Australia.”
