1964: New Kilpatrick Church’s Sunday School service was reorganised after the number in the classes exceeded 500.

The popularity of the Bearsden church amongst the community grew steadily to the point that it was necessary to split the class into two groups.

Children born between 1959 and 1960 were taught by Miss Muriel Dunlop in the large hall of the church.

And older children born between 1957 and 1958 met in the dining hall of Bearsden Primary, at Bearsden Cross, under the leadership of Mrs Norah Cook.

Archibald Cook, Sunday School superintendent , said: “With so many pupils attending classes administration is a very big job.”
