A BEARSDEN girL is excited that she’s going to perform the opening songs at a mind-reading show to raise cash for a cancer charity.
Sixteen-year-old Joanne Meney, a pupil at Bearsden Academy, was asked by a friend of her family, Paul Hamilton, to sing at the beginning of his performance which is called Decisions at Cadder Freestone Social Club in Bishopbriggs on Thursday, October 4.
All profits raised on the night will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Joanne said: “I’ll be singing the song that Susan Boyle made famous, I Dreamed a Dream, and Because of You by Kelly Clarkson. The last time I sang in front of an audience I was only nine on a cruise ship so I’m a bit nervous but really looking forward to the night.”
Paul said: “We all make decisions and I began to get interested in how we do this so I did a bit of research which led me to wonder - are our decisions pre-determined?
“We make 3.2 decisions every second which means that we make 17,600 every day both conciously and sub-consciously. I began to wonder if the decisions we make always remain the same?
“I’m hoping that lots of people will come along to support this wonderful cause - it’s going to be a great night. Tickets are going to sell out fast so make sure you book soon.”
Paul will be giving someone a chance, through their decision, to win £100 on the night.
There will also be a ventriloquist (Chris Young) with a psychic parrot called Fernando and a Beatles tribute act.
It starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £5, to book call 07719911835 or pick one up at Welsh Rarebits gift shop in Bearsden or at Cadder Freestone Social Club.
