£19m academy row goes to appeal

A £19MILLION row over the redevelopment of the former Bearsden Academy site is still rumbling on - despite a judge’s ruling in March.

East Dunbartonshire Coucil (EDC) has been in a wrangle with Bett Homes, formerly Gladedale, over an alleged breach of contract involving payments for the land vacated when the school moved from Morven Road to a new, custom built facility.

A judge at the Court of Session found in the council’s favour “on a number of matters”, but Bett Homes appealed the ruling last month

Now EDC’s legal team is considering its next move. A council spokeswoman said: “Bett Homes Ltd appealed the decision made by the court. The council is preparing its response to that appeal and the matter is on-going.”
