Why Cumbernauld and Kilsyth should never forget

I have been aware of the poppy and what it stands for since I was about 10 years old all those years ago.

That was when I was in the 1st Twechar Boys Brigade, standing wet through on most Remembrance Sundays.

Older now, I have a more significant understanding of the poppy and what happened in the First World War.

What to me was a small red and black flower has come to mean so much to so many.

We wear our poppies with pride.

And the much needed money raised helps our soldiers who come back from the conflicts overseas.

Please buy a poppy and wear it with pride, for those whose motto is: service not self.
