A coffee shop is once again collecting toys for children who will be spending the festive season in hospital - in memory of a tragic mum and her son.

Brenda Young, owner of the Village Cafe in Bishopbriggs, had previously organised fundraisers for Gayle McElhinney and her son Kane, who both contracted cancer.

Cash raised helped send Kane to Germany for treatment, but he died in 2013. Gayle passed away last year at the age of 35.

Now Brenda teams up with ther family, employees and customers to runs an annual collection of toys to be sent to Yorkhill Children’s Hospital - honouring one of Kane’s last wishes which was to support the toy fund.

If you would like to donate a toy, just take it to the Village Cafe
