Win tickets for Roald Dahl classic at the Theatre Royal
A STAGE version of the hilarious children's story 'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl is coming to The Theatre Royal, Glasgow, in July.
And The Milngavie and Bearsden Herald has a set of family tickets (two adults two children) to give away to see the show on Tuesday, July 27 at 7pm.
Dunfermline lad Clark Devlin takes lead role of George in Dahl's comic masterpiece, which has been adapted for stage by leading children's dramatist, David Wood.
First published in 1981, George's Marvellous Medicine is one of Dahl's funniest and most exciting stories all about a young boy who makes a marvellous new medicine to cure his grandmother of her terrifying temper. But when his grandmother drinks his special new potion the results are explosive and the most incredible things begin to happen — it's the start of George's amazing adventures which provide a wonderful knockabout comic romp for the audience!
This will be the seventh Dahl Christmas show that Birmingham Stage Company have presented, all have been hugely popular and the company hope to break their own box office records with this their latest on tour throughout 2010. 'George's Marvellous Medicine' will be directed by Phil Clark, who also directed both BSC's last Dahl show, 'Danny the Champion of the World,' in 2007/8, and the company's new 'Horrible Histories' tour. The new stage version of 'George' is by David Wood, the UK's leading children's playwright, who was dubbed 'the national children's dramatist' by The Times. He recently won the AATE Distinguished Playwriting Award for the second time for his adaptation of 'Danny the Champion of the World'
BSC's Founder and Actor Manager, Neal Foster, said today: "Our new adaptation by David Wood will take the show onto a new level, we think its one of the most exciting show for children we've ever staged!"
