Milngavie kids blast onto Richard Hammond show

THREE budding boffins are set to appear on children's science programme Richard Hammond's Blast Lab in September.

Thomas Burnip, Kyle Bannerman and Jack Fulton, all aged nine and from Milngavie, were flown down to London to record the show last August.

TV star Hammond, who also presents motoring show Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, put the finishing touches to the show in February, and the new series kicked-off last Wednesday on CBBC at 5.15pm.

The trio will appear in episode 10 and for those not familiar with the show's format, three youngsters in two groups – one in yellow, the other in red – compete against each other by answering true or false scientific questions.

The teams of youngsters then take part in It's A Knockout-style tests, in which the winners get all sorts of games as prizes while the losers have to press the button that blows up their prizes.

Thomas's mum Ann said: "Thomas is really interested in science and downloaded an application form.

"Following a successful telephone interview he was invited to London last August with Kyle and Jack to compete against an all-

girl team."

The boys, who are pupils at Milngavie Primary School, made up the yellow team who competed against the girls' red team.

Ann added: "They did really well, although I've been told not to say if they won or not. You'll just have to wait and see!"

People who want to see how the boys got on can find out by watching episode 10 on September 15.
