Easter fun at The Tron

FOR this year's Easter holidays the Tron Theatre company is staging a new award-nominated play by Skye Loneragan for young people aged eight and over and their families.

'Mish Gorecki Goes Missing' is the funny, surreal and tender tale about a girl who goes missing to be noticed.

The Milngavie and Bearsden Herald has a family ticket to give away (two adults and two children) to see it on Saturday, April 17 at noon.

Mish Gorecki is nine years old and the 'little rock' in her family. She's just been accepted on the school trip to Russia to visit the Bolshoi and all she needs is a signature on her permission slip. But that's not so easy when the rest of her family are having a hard time dealing with their own lives…

Whilst this newly written play is very comic and broadly funny featuring larger than life characters, it also manages to touch on more serious themes. Mish is neglected by her family who are caught up in their own lives and is often the person who holds things together.

So while parents can be assured that their offspring will enjoy this colourful tale it also raises serious questions and touches on difficult themes with the lightest of touches.

This is the first new piece of children's theatre to be staged by the Tron Theatre Company in many years and while shortlisted for the Kings Cross New Writing Award in 2009, this is its first professional outing.

The cast comprises of three of Scotland's most talented young actors, Kirsten McLean who recently appeared in Communicado and the Tron's massively successful production of The Government Inspector will play Mish; while all the other parts will be taken by Angela Darcy (STV's High Times and NTS's Mary Queen of Scots) and Robbie Jack (from BBC Scotland's Gary Tank Commander) who are reunited on the Tron stage for the first time since they appeared in Vox Motus's award-winning Slick.

Families are bound to enjoy this wonderfully colourful and touching tale which runs twice daily at the Tron Theatre in the Changing House until Sunday, April 25.

For your chance to win tickets, make sure you get your hands on a copy of this week's Milngavie and Bearsden Herald, which is in shops now.
