Billy releases charity CD

SINGER-songwriter Billy McIsaac has just released his first solo CD with all profits going to help a charity he has helped support for many years.

The Milngavie musician's newest project, Songs for Lochaber, will help fund the Lochaber Hydrotherapy pool in Fort William, a state-of-the-art indoor pool which opened recently.

The pool will be used by the whole community, and particularly by those with mobility problems.

Billy described his album as a combination of traditional Scottish and modern music, and it went on general release on Friday. The release marks the end of a long association with the charity going back six years.

He said: "This will be my last fundraising project for Lochaber Hydrotherapy as the pool is now officially opened.

"My hope is that Songs for Lochaber will raise another several thousand pounds for the hydrotherapy pool to make it the best facility of its type in the UK."

He said he wished to thank all the musicians who played on the CD for donating their services and talents free of charge along with many other people who have been involved with the various Lochaber Hydrotherapy fundraising projects over the last six years.

He added: "This has been a six-year project and I've written ten tracks on the CD and recorded them with some of Scotland's finest traditional musicians including Gary Innes, Skerryvore, Ingrid Henderson and the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band."

The CD will be available locally in Scotcraft, Milngavie priced at 9.99 or online at www.musicscotland.com/songslochaber.
