Bearsden babe Kirsty is a bikini queen

BIKINI babe Kirsty Dixon strutted her stuff on the catwalk recently when she entered a swimwear competition in Glasgow.

The wannabe model (19) from Bearsden joined a gaggle of 17 other high heeled girls who modelled a range of new season swimwear in the Miss Bikini Babe 2009 competition at the Sports Cafe on Sauchiehall Street, sponsored by Glam Styles.

The former Bearsden Academy pupil who recently finished a healthcare course at Clydebank College, and would like to be a midwife, was disappointed not to win, but reckoned it gave her added confidence.

She said: "On the night there were three rounds. The first round was beachwear and all the girls were asked questions by a panel of three judges before doing the catwalk.

"The second round was bikini and sarong and the last was the glam styles round when we all got to keep the bikini they gave us."

Kirsty admitted to feeling really nervous at the beginning because of all the talent scouts and photographers on the night.

She added: "It was a bit nerve-racking at the start but once I got into it I loved it and had a lot of fun. All the girls were lovely and I can't wait for the next competition."

On the back of the event, Kirsty secured two photo-shoots which she hopes will lead to bigger and better things.

The budding model was also celebrating this week after getting through to the quarter-final stage of Scotland's biggest beauty competition, Uber Girl 2009.

Fellow beauties Charlene McCallum and Lisa Barclay, both 23 and from Milngavie, joined her in surviving the weekly text vote. There are now only four weekly eliminations to go unit the final on August 9.
