Burns Supper at Douglas Park Golf Club

Douglas Academy GC Burns' night

Douglas Academy GC Burns' night

DOUGLAS Park Golf Club celebrated the life and works of Robert Burns with their annual Burns Supper in the club house last Friday.

The event is one of the highlights in the social calendar at the club and it is always a very entertaining evening - particularly when the speakers and entertainers are as good as they were this year.

Memorable speeches came from Colin MacKay, the well known radio and television presenter, who delivered the Immortal Memory.

The Rev Bill Ferguson of Broomhill Church Toasted the Lassies and Anne McGuire, MP for Stirling, responded with the Reply for the Lassies.

The entertainment was provided by Andy and Margaret Morris both very well known musicians in Burns circles.

The singer was Brian McBride who recently won the prestigious Sandyford Burns Competition and judging from his performance it was quite clear why.

Club Captain Colin McEwen said: “Our guest speakers and entertainers were absolutely superb which of course is why the evening was so successful and entertaining.

“The reception was warm and the applause given to our guests from those attending the supper was very much appreciated by them.

“It was quite an evening indeed, one not to be missed.”
