A BALLERINA at a Bearsden ballet school has been offered the chance to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer.

Louise Haughey (16) has danced for 12 years at the Linda Lowry School of Ballet.

She has recently passed the Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 and International Dance Teachers Association Advanced 1 Ballet exams, as well as dancing in the school’s Annual performances, appearing with the school in 5 Go Dance Festivals and competing at various competitions throughout Scotland where she has won many awards including Scottish Senior Ballet Champion 2011, Highest Mark Ballet & National trophies as well as countless medals.

Louise’s driving ambition to dance and her determined attitude led her to audition for places at Vocational schools and she was lucky enough to be offered places at Ballet West and Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, and has earlier this month started her fulltime training at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on the BA in Modern Ballet Course.

Here Louise will study many forms of dance including Ballet, Pointe, Pas de Deux, Contemporary and Repertoire

Louise has spent summers training with the Royal Ballet School at their international summer school held at their head quarters in London as well as with Northern Ballet in Leeds and Elmhurst in Birmingham.

Mrs Lowry is thrilled by Louise’s success. She said: “Louise has been a delight to teach, and although we will miss her very much, a place on this prestigious course is just reward for the many years of training and commitment both by our teachers and Louise.

“I know the whole school is very proud of her and we wish her every success for the future, we will follow her career with interest.”
