BEARSDEN rockers Flood can't wait to record their first ever music demo — now that the stress of studying for exams is over.
The boys, who won East Dunbartonshire's first Battle of the Bands competition back in April, have been busy studying for their Higher exams but now they plan to go into the recording studio for the first time to lay down the tracks that helped them win a demo recording session courtesy of Headhunter Records.

Drummer John Cameron (17), bassist Scott Meadows (17), guitarist Sean Smith (16) and singer/guitarist Jack Wilson (17) also won the prize of a Dreadnought acoustic guitar worth £200 at the competition for their song Apple TV which was voted the best original composition.

John said: "It was a great opportunity to be involved in the competition but the fact that we actually won it was unbelievable.

"It has now given us a reputation in the local music scene and we definitely can't wait to head to the recording studio at some point over the next few weeks."

John, however, admits that it was difficult to go back to studying after winning the competition.

He said: "We wanted to keep the momentum of winning the competition going and wanted to do more stuff but we had to make the decision to concentrate on school first and then get back to the band stuff in the summer. "

The group, which was established in January 2007, will be heading into their final year at Bearsden Academy after the summer but in the meantime they are all looking forward to their trip to T in the Park.

Counting Led Zepplin, U2, Pink Floyd and Radiohead as their influences, the four piece have plenty of material ready for their recording session including tracks Your Hair Reminds Me, They All I Say and Growing Pains.

But the boys don't plan to stop just at recording a demo, they also hope to build on their fanbase, play outside Glasgow as well as attracting some record company interest.

John said: "We have a great fanbase in Bearsden but we hope to get more people listening to our music and once we have a few demos under our belt we will definitely think about sending them to record companies."
