Major leaf-clearing operation underway in villages

COUNCIL teams have been out around the villages removing tens of thousands of autumn leaves from roads and pavements.

Stirling Council’s annual leaf clearance operation has been underway since mid October and is due to run until Friday, December 21.

Councillor Danny Gibson said: “We are fortunate to live and work in a beautiful area with a large number of tress and while it is very scenic this can be challenging for our crews to remove such a large amount of fallen leaves at this time of year.

“Our Land Service team is doing a great job in keeping our pavements and roads from becoming hazardous and they will continue to work closely with local residents and community councils to tackle any problematic areas.”

Communities who have benefited so far from the annual leaf clearance include Killearn and Drymen.

Once all the areas have been cleared the crews will revisit areas as required over the remaining weeks of the operation.
