Free self defence classes for women
IN LIGHT of the current 16 Days of Action campaign, local women have the opportunity to attend a free self-defence class in Clydebank.
Charity Security and Safety, headed by David Bell and his brother Alan, have organised a series of personal safety workshops to help raise awareness of male violence towards women.
The programmes have been co-ordinated to accompany the 16 Days of Action international campaign which will culminate on December 10 with International Human Rights Day.
Self-defence instructor David, from Bearsden, said: “Violence against women is not just a ‘women’s issue’, it is an issue that concerns all of us - especially men. As the perpetrators of this violence, men must recognise and respect the equal role and rights of women.
“And we should all remember, when it comes to violence against women, there are no grounds for tolerance and no tolerable excuses.”
Alan and David are hoping to run a class on Thursday, December 13 at the Clydebank Rugby Club training hall from 10am-4pm, pending confirmation from the club comittee.
For anyone wishing to attend, please contact Alan at alan@securityandsafety.co.uk to confirm your place.
