THEY may have looked pretty in their new pink strips but it took a late winner from Scott Chaplain to save Partick Thistle's red faces on Tuesday night.
The score stood at 2-2 after 90 minutes with Jags winning 4-3 in extra-time.

They were up against former boss Dick Campbell's Third Division Forfar and had to battle back twice in this CIS Cup first round tie at Firhill.

Martin Fotheringham put the visitors ahead after just 12 minutes with a shot that Jonny Tuffey should have dealt comfortably with.

Forfar had the chance to add to their lead but Jags were back on level terms in the 38th minute when Stephen McKeown netted from Damon Gray's pass.

Thistle upped their game after the break but Forfar regained their lead when Derek Lilley struck in the 65th minute.

Again Jags hit back with Gray heading past Ally Brown.

The tie moved into extra time with Gray putting Thistle in front for the first time in the 97th minute.

But this time it was Forfar who hit back six minutes later through Elliot Smith.

And just when it looked like going to penalties Chaplain hit a superb volley to take Thistle through.

Thistle return to league action on Saturday when they travel to New Broomfield to face Airdrie United.

And they're back at Firhill on Tuesday when they take on Peterhead in the Challenge Cup, kick off 7.30pm
