Partick Thistle bid to end on a high
PARTICK Thistle will play a full strength team when they take on Morton at Firhill on Saturday as they aim to finish the season on a high.
Boss Ian McCall is expecting a tough match though with Morton still fighting to avoid a relegation play-off spot.
He said: "Saturday's game will be hard but we are expecting it. Morton are still in the relegation mire and are playing for their first division lives.
" We will be playing a full first team with the exception of Archibald and Buchanan, who are out through injury."
McCall was confident though that a good home turnout would help, and added: "It will make all the difference and we are hoping to give the fans something to cheer about."
A win on Saturday will also banish the memories of Thistle's miserable performance against Livingston the previous week.
McCall admitted: "It was a poor performance and we didn't play to our best. In fact we were rubbish, especially in the first half.
"Livingston needed a point to stay up so they had the focus that we were lacking."
Jags have already begun their preparations for next season by extending the contracts of top players Simon Donnelly and Gary Harkins.
The club confirmed on Friday that defensive midfielder Harkins will stay until May, 2010 and striker Donnelly will play another season, staying with Thistle until May, 2009.
Stevie Murray, Paul Keegan and Vitezslav Mooc will however be missing from next season's line-up after McCall confirmed to the players that their futures are no longer at Firhill.
Thistle announced an exciting range of schemes this week in their bid to battle back to the SPL.
These include allowing under-16s into ever league game for free next season and giving fans the chance to win a car for six months in a £20 per month draw.
They are also relaunching the club's badge and a special one-off programme to mark this will be available, priced £3, at the Morton game.
