MIXED martial arts fighter David Galbraith is looking to start 2010 as he means to go on — with a win at next month's fight in Stirling's Albert Halls.
David is among a host of top fighters who will be slogging it out at the debut Scottish Fight Challenge (SFC) event which will showcase a number of skilled Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai fighters in professional and semi-professional bouts.

Davi
d (24) from Milngavie will be fighting in the 70kg category and has been going through punishing 12-hour training routines at Battlefield Gym to keep himself at the peak of fitness.

The health, fitness and exercise student at Anniesland College, faces Bobby McVitie and said: "Bobby has had nine fights and I've had four and I feel it will be a really good match up.

"I have seen Bobby fight before and he can be a bit wreckless.
"He can be a bit wild and I'm hoping to exploit that."

David said his strategy was to fight intelligently, adding: "I know he will steam in at the beginning and I will just have to weather the storm. What I don't want to do is get into a brawl with him.

"If I do it'll be a fifty-fifty who wins and I don't like those odds."
Promoter, and David's coach, Ricky Gillon, said: "This is a four-man fight with a featherweight fight followed by the lightweight bout which David is fighting in.

"His opponent Bobby McVitie is evenly matched so it will be a great fight."

Ricky reckons that David has the edge, adding that he was a 'more rounded fighter'.

David has also been training hard for the bout. On the build-up to the fight, David said: "I've been training full time for quite some time now and I want to show everyone that I am the country's top fighter and hopefully be ready for when Ultimate Fight Club comes to Scotland.
"I have made major sacrifices for this sport financially and personally and I am 100 per cent dedicated to it.

"I pretty much live in the gym now and I'm there from nine in the morning to nine at night."

The total purse for the fight will be £1,000 and David, whose ring name is the Gladiator will, if successful, be looking at a purse of £500.
