ON-LOAN Thistle striker Damon Gray could stay at Firhill a little longer — if Ian McCall has his way.
The Hibs youngster has scored three goals in two starts, two against Clyde on Saturday and one against Livingston on Tuesday, and now McCall is looking to extend the 19-year-old's time at the club.

He said: "Damon Gray did well at the weekend but then again it was a good all round team performance.

"A lot of people feel we have not been playing well recently because we have drawn a fair number of games but we did fantastic against Clyde and Damon certainly provided the fire power to get that result

"Our club hadn't won at Clyde for 10 years and that's us done it twice in the one season. It was something that the fans were more than happy about."

The Firhill boss even admitted that the best case scenario for his squad would be to have both Gray and the currently injured Liam Buchanan up front.

With Gray expected to stay with the Jags until March 22 and hopes that Buchanan will make a return from his persistent groin injury in a few weeks, it may be the two will have a short spell playing alongside each other.

McCall, however, said: "We will monitor the situation with Gray and I will keep in touch with Hibernian over the next few weeks about keeping him a little bit longer.

"I would like to see both Gray and Buchanan up front and hopefully that can happen."

The club's victory against Livingston took them into the top half of the First Division with a fifth place spot and further away from the possibility of relegation play-offs.

McCall said: "That was a big win for us and perhaps allows us to start to think about those above us in the league.

"The atmosphere was a bit flat and obviously the pitch wasn't in the greatest of condition either.

"That said, I was particularly happy with the way the players approached the game and at times, in particular the first 25 minutes of the second half, we played some good football."

Thistle have a blank weekend due to Scottish Cup ties and will hopefully know who they will meet in the quarter-finals after Sunday's fifth round clash between Rangers and Hibs.
