A BEARSDEN dad was viciously attacked and stabbed on his own doorstep on Saturday night in a terrifying ordeal for his family.
Garden rocks were also thrown at his head and body and his injuries required many hours treatment at the Western Infirmary following the attack at around 11pm.
The man's eight-year-old son, who had got out of bed for a drink, first answered the do
or to find a group of five youths.
Two were at the door of the house in Boclair Avenue and the other three a few paces behind and they gave the name of a girl and asked if she was in.
The boy said he had never heard of her and couldn't say where she might live and closed the door.
The 45-year-old dad then saw the boys still hanging around in his garden and went outside.
Speaking after his ordeal, he told the Herald: "They were all boys between 15 and 17 years old. I asked them what address the girl was meant to live at and they didn't know — they didn't even know what street they were in.
"They were high on something — I don't know if it was drink or drugs and I suggested they should go home. But I didn't say it in a provocative manner and when they moved off I thought that was the end of it."
However, a short time later two of the youths were again spotted in the garden and this time when the man went out one lunged at him with a knife while the other hurled rocks at him. The man's wife was screaming and as neighbours were alerted the youths kicked into her before running off.
